2026 Renault Arkana Hybrid: Australian Prices, Specs and Equipment

The 2026 Renault Arkana adds a 12V mild-hybrid system to its turbocharged petrol engine, but the change brings only modest gains. Output rises to 116kW and 270Nm, while the claimed combined fuel use stays at 5.9L/100km and the 0–100km/h time remains 9.1 seconds. Renault calls it the Arkana Hybrid; buyers looking for a full-hybrid Renault SUV will need to consider the larger Symbioz.

The updated range is on sale in Australia now, with two grades. The Techno starts at $41,990 before on-road costs, a $500 increase, while the Esprit Alpine remains $45,990. The former Evolution entry grade has been dropped, so the Techno is now the least expensive way into the Arkana range.

Explore the Renault Arkana

A small assist, with mixed efficiency figures

The mild-hybrid system pairs the 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 3.6kW electric motor and a 12V electrical system. That’s a smaller assist than the 48V systems now common in mild hybrids. The Arkana’s setup is also used in models including the Suzuki Swift, Suzuki Fronx and entry-level Renault Symbioz.

Compared with the previous Arkana, power increases from 115kW to 116kW and torque from 262Nm to 270Nm. Renault Australia also says the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic has been revised for smoother operation. The claimed acceleration figure, however, is unchanged at 9.1 seconds from 0–100km/h.

Fuel figures are more nuanced than the unchanged combined result suggests. Claimed urban consumption falls from 7.6L/100km to 7.2L/100km, while highway use rises from 4.9L/100km to 5.2L/100km. Combined consumption remains 5.9L/100km, and claimed CO2 emissions edge up from 133g/km to 134g/km. The Arkana takes 91-octane regular unleaded and has a 50-litre fuel tank.

The Australian model is front-wheel drive, with MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion-beam rear axle. Kerb weight ranges from 1363kg to 1375kg. Braked towing capacity is 900kg, and unbraked capacity is 715kg. Payload is 529kg for the Techno and 517kg for the Esprit Alpine.

Full hybrid remains a separate choice

The Arkana is built in South Korea, where a different powertrain is available: Renault’s E-Tech full-hybrid system. It combines a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with a 36kW drive motor, a 15kW auxiliary motor and a six-speed automatic transmission. Renault Australia has previously said it wouldn’t bring that setup to the Arkana because it would weaken the model’s value proposition here.

Instead, the recently launched Symbioz provides the brand’s full-hybrid option in Australia. It starts at $42,990 before on-road costs in full-hybrid form; the mild-hybrid version starts at $36,990. That makes the powertrain distinction important for shoppers comparing Renault’s small SUVs: the Arkana’s hybrid label refers to a 12V mild-hybrid system, not the full-hybrid setup offered in the Symbioz.

A matte Satin Grey exterior finish joins the Arkana’s colour choices. The change follows the 2024 refresh, which brought revised styling and introduced the Esprit Alpine as the range-topping grade.

Prices and dimensions

2026 modelPrice before on-road costs
Arkana Techno$41,990
Arkana Esprit Alpine$45,990

The Arkana measures 4568mm long, 1821mm wide and 1571mm tall, with a 2720mm wheelbase. Width reaches 2034mm with the mirrors extended. Luggage capacity is 485 litres with the rear seats raised and 1268 litres with them folded.

Equipment and ownership costs

The Techno comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, automatic high-beam, rain-sensing wipers and a powered tailgate. Inside, it has power-adjustable and heated front seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and a 9.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. Wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, a six-speaker Arkamys sound system and wireless phone charging are included. Rear passengers get two USB-A outlets, air vents and a centre armrest with cupholders. The rear seat folds in a 60:40 split.

The Esprit Alpine adds 19-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, black mirror caps and window trim, and a distinctive front bumper treatment. Its cabin gains an eight-speaker Bose sound system, a heated steering wheel, suede-style upholstery and Alpine Blue stitching. The Techno can be fitted with a sunroof for $1500.

Solid White is the Techno’s standard finish. Metallic options—Universal White, Metallic Black, Metallic Grey, Night Blue and Flame Red—cost $900. A black roof is a $600 option on either grade. The Esprit Alpine can also be ordered in matte Satin Grey for an extra $1150.

Renault backs the Arkana with a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty. Scheduled servicing is due every 12 months or 30,000km, whichever comes first. Listed service prices are $419 for years one, two, three and five, and $859 for year four.

Safety equipment

The Arkana’s previous five-star ANCAP rating, awarded in 2019, expired at the end of 2025, so the model no longer has a current rating. Listed equipment includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist and lane centring. It also has a driver attention alert, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, a surround-view camera and front, rear and side parking sensors. Airbags cover the front seats, front sides and curtain areas.

With the full-hybrid option reserved for the Symbioz, the Arkana’s appeal rests on its coupe-style body, equipment and small efficiency changes. The updated figures give buyers a clearer comparison: urban consumption improves, highway use increases, and combined consumption is unchanged.
