2026 BYD Atto 3 Evo: Australian Prices, Range and Specs

The 2026 BYD Atto 3 Evo brings a bigger battery, more power and rear-wheel drive to the range-topping Premium, while keeping the Dynamic’s familiar front-wheel-drive setup. Local deliveries are due to start in September 2026. Prices are $41,990 for the Dynamic and $46,990 for the Premium, before on-road costs; leftover pre-update Essential stock is listed at $39,990 plus on-road costs.

That creates a clear choice between a lower-priced version with a claimed 420km of WLTP range and a Premium with 510km, stronger charging figures and more cargo capacity. The two trims also differ in towing capacity, payload and acceleration, so the $5,000 gap buys more than extra battery capacity.

Two drivetrains, two charging profiles

The Dynamic carries over the previous model’s front-mounted 150kW electric motor, which produces 310Nm. Its 60.48kWh lithium iron phosphate battery uses a 400V electrical architecture. Maximum charging rates are 7kW on AC and 110kW on DC. BYD claims a 0–80 per cent DC charge in 41 minutes.

For the Premium, BYD switches to a rear-mounted motor rated at 230kW and 380Nm, paired with an 800V system and a 74.88kWh LFP battery. It accepts up to 11kW on AC and 220kW on DC, with a claimed 0–80 per cent DC charge time of 30 minutes. The higher-output version is also quicker: its claimed 0–100km/h time is 5.5 seconds, against 7.3 seconds for the Dynamic.

The Premium’s longer stated range comes with slightly higher claimed energy consumption: 16.4kWh/100km on the WLTP cycle, compared with 16.0kWh/100km for the Dynamic. Both versions include vehicle-to-load capability, rated at up to 3.3kW. That gives owners a way to power compatible equipment from the car, though the source provides no further details on V2L use or equipment.

For buyers weighing the two versions, the Premium’s combination of rear-wheel drive, faster charging and 90km more claimed range is the main mechanical change. Actual range and charge times will depend on conditions and charging equipment; the figures here are BYD’s stated claims.

Subtle exterior changes, a revised cabin

The Evo’s exterior update is restrained. Changes include a sharper front bumper, slimmer side skirts, new 18-inch alloy wheel designs and revisions to the rear bumper, spoiler and tail-lights. The cabin keeps distinctive details such as guitar-string door trim, unusual door handles and cylindrical centre air vents, but moves to a greyer colour scheme and redesigned door panels.

The most visible control change is the gear selector. The chunky unit on the centre console has been replaced by a slim selector behind the steering wheel. That frees space around the console, where BYD has repositioned the wireless phone charger. Its output rises from 15W to 50W. Physical switches remain, now placed farther back towards the centre armrest.

The 15.6-inch touchscreen runs BYD’s latest infotainment generation. The company says it has a cleaner interface, quicker responses and a more intuitive layout for key functions. The old 5.0-inch instrument display gives way to an 8.8-inch digital cluster. Both trims also include wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air software updates, and an eight-speaker sound system.

Space, capability and equipment

At 4455mm long, 1875mm wide and 1615mm tall, the Atto 3 Evo has a 2720mm wheelbase. It uses MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear arrangement. Industry sales reports classify the model as a mid-size SUV, though it is smaller than the Leapmotor B10, which is described as a small electric SUV.

The Dynamic provides 434 litres of boot space with the rear seats upright and 1340 litres with them folded. The Premium offers 490 litres behind the rear seats, 1360 litres with them folded and a 101-litre compartment under the bonnet. Payload is 410kg for the Dynamic and 530kg for the Premium. Braked towing capacity is 750kg and 1500kg respectively.

Both trims come with 18-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade, power tailgate, roof rails, rear privacy glass, rain-sensing wipers, heated and ventilated front seats, and a leatherette interior. The Dynamic has a six-way power driver’s seat and four-way power passenger seat. The Premium adds four-way driver lumbar adjustment and a six-way power passenger seat, as well as dual-zone climate control in place of the Dynamic’s single-zone system.

Standard safety equipment listed for the range includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, driver monitoring, lane-keep assist, emergency lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic assist, safe exit warning, a surround-view camera and front and rear parking sensors. Child presence detection is newly included, and the Premium adds front cross-traffic assist. The Atto 3 received a five-star ANCAP rating in 2022; the supplied results were 91 per cent for adult occupant protection, 84 per cent for child occupant protection, 69 per cent for vulnerable road user protection and 80 per cent for safety assist.

Ownership details and colours

BYD’s stated vehicle warranty is six years or 150,000km, with a separate battery warranty of eight years or 160,000km. Scheduled servicing is required every 12 months or 20,000km, whichever comes first. Service prices have not yet been provided.

Ski White is the standard exterior colour. Harbour Grey and Cosmos Black cost an additional $600; Premium buyers can also choose Atlantis Grey for the same surcharge. Every Atto 3 Evo has a grey interior. With Australian deliveries scheduled for September 2026, the key decision will be whether the Premium’s longer claimed range, faster DC charging and added utility justify its $5,000 price premium.
